Today I talked with Troy, we had a whiteboard conversation mapping out his monuments and places and revisiting his walk with the class in Donaghadee last week. He showed me the photo he selected of his walk and the things that interested home, the tiles on the ground - "the Floor", the streetlamp "the Light" the sea "the Waves and "the car" and "the roofs" he showed me his very nicely framed photo incorporating all the things he had noticed in one image, and he showed me the beautiful graphic drawing he had made, that looked like a map or a design for a rug using simple shapes, colours and rhythmic pattern making in blues and yellow. We played with all of these layers on the whiteboard, moving objects about and changing their scale, until they were in the right place. Like this we made 2 constellations, one from his symbols, which Troy named "The Whale" and the other of Donaghadee we named "the Shovel" together because it looked like a big wedge.
